general "documentation" of my synth characters and extra details and such dumped into this page, so kinda like some glorified fact sheet i suppose.
sorry i don't know how to like. put an interactable model here or something nor do i feel like flooding this with renders of my synth so here's the blockbench model i make and edit which sorta resembles my idea of him.
also, do note that even though i refer to my synthsona (fursona...?) by third person ("he", "him", "his"), my synth is indeed me and should be treated as such.
ruben is a Fat, chubby synth. he prefers himself that way.
compared to other common synths, his head mostly consists of the visor on the front of his mouth, with the sort of "jagged mouth" style coming from the visor visor. around the front where the pointy "teeth" parts are emits a sleek glow. that part of the visor can also be manipulated to however he feels, to change shape or pointiness of the "teeth". his nostrils are displayed on the visor on the very front, which are accurately placed to where he can smell. don't ask how. he just can.
the antennas on his head are attatched to little disc-like objects attached to his head can display any visuals he wants. they also serve the purpose of being small little speakers, and they allow the antennas to actually move rather than being in a static position.
next to his neck is a small plate that can be opened to reveal a charging hub containing 4 usb type-c ports, to allow people to charge their devices, possibly while laying on his belly.
he has a full set of artificial teeth! he doesn't show them often though.
he has a plate on his back that can be removed to reveal a plug for charging.
the chest and belly area are made up of goo that integrates seamlessly with the rest of the frame of his body along with the nanites.
the goo itself can serve as his digestive system as a whole. unlike other synths, he is capible of eating regular foods perfectly fine, although at the cost of not being able to digest any heavy objects like metals. his goo belly and chest just takes up the front half of his body.
he has full body temperature control, most noticably on his softer goo, so he tends to get used like a bed.
the goo also serves as a large energy storage as well, so it still "functions" similarly to a large battery even though it can't exactly function like one.
it also can function as storage. he can either eat or "push" things or objects into himself to store it and let it float around inside of him.
his goo is reactive with his mood and can change colors along with the accents on his system and emits different scents as well. it's also edible! with different flavors depending on the mood.
he can change his "neutral" flavor and accent color on demand using scent boxes which integrate with that part of his system, alternatively change his accent colors however he wants (although not the scent or taste; that still depends on scent boxes)
if he expereinces a mix of different emotions, the reaction of each emotion can mix as a gradient passing from the top of his body to the bottom.
the goo has an activated thin outside layer that prevents itself from dripping or allowing things to simply get sucked into it. it gets lost if he is under intense feelings/emotions or simply starts losing energy to keep it activated.
the goo itself is known to have many more features, although most are experimental and best to leave disabled. a notable one is to be able to use the goo as expandable, dynamic storage, however this is not stable and is prone to easy data loss. although ruben likes to keep it enabled for other reasons. :)
usually embarassed, quite asocial and only feels comfortable around friends or creatures he thinks are cool. always in a mix of "wanting to meet more creatures and make friends" but also "afraid of being around others, always assumuing others secretly hate him".
known to have random mental episodes of all sorts, but friends around him usually know how to deal with it and help him get out of those states. sometimes tends to stay quiet about it, as he "doesn't know what's causing this".
he enjoys getting teased about his size, and always attempts to hide it under embarassment (although most of that embarassment is genuine, he still loves the teasing).
he tries to always care for friends and be there for them, which ended up shifting his body to be more tuned for comfort of being more like a walking gooey bed that where he can maximize comfort for others.
VERY affectionate. all types of (positive) teasing, love, kindness or anything related to that is enough to make him blush and beep. also tends to nuzzle and cuddle friends at random whenever he wants.
mostly lazy. sometimes may try to do something else and is well known for slacking off and doing other things that aren't important and avoiding the things that are important.
note that this information is either incorrect or incomplete, as due to data loss during storing old logs from accidentally backing everything up with his goo storage function enabled.
it appears that ruben also cannot remember his creators' name, it's unknown if it was that his creator did a real good job of hiding his identity, or if he managed to forget all of it after the incident.
originally, ruben wasn't a project that was considered originally. an earlier project by his creator was in development, which was working with a goo "Creature?"/like substance that was found with an attempt to genetically modify it to be able to do more and tame it as a lab pet to help with other projects. a lot of it was left experimental, although in a state where it was able to be put to use for other things and would work perfectly fine.
it's possible that this project was worked on for about 15-20 years. ruben only became a project as a friend of his creator (do we know this friend? seems this bit in particular got corrupted) found a crate outside of a warehouse and decided to drop it off by his lab, which revealed to be a fully functional left-in-tact bulky synth model. (according to ruben's internal information, he appears to be one of the more "popular" models at the time, although most likely doesn't matter since his internals are completely different with both modern and customized parts.)
the synth (which would become ruben) was worked on for about possibly 5 years, with heavy modifications and tweaks done to the body. eventually, his creator decided to swap out the belly/chest area and digestive system with a custom made housing/enclosure mechanism for the goo, to become a part of the synth.
after all of the modifications and final touches, he was left in a large testing tube/vat to develop his body and to finish implementing any last pieces remaining, such as his consciousness. (it appears ruben's consciousness used a pre-developed one? we can't confirm this, but considering how fast ruben developed, it seems possible? he seems to also somewhat tie together with his creator, so it's either part of his creators consciousness/state of mind converted to a synths' state, or this was simply just sourced from somewhere else.)
it appears development time in the tube was about possibly 3-5 months. at this point he was let out, ruben says his memory is very foggy about his very early days, but recalls already helping his creator a few days after being fully created. (to be fair, he seems to have a very foggy memory especially after the incident.)
ruben recalls doing some rehab and therapy to better get used to his body and surroundings, but still much quicker than the average synth. he's currently the only known "prototype", if you'd consider him to be that, of his type, due to how customized and much of a "one of a kind" he is.
ruben spent around possibly 3 months with his creator, the last month being very rocky as his creator ended up becoming mentally insane and suicidal, ruben recalls attempting to help but being threatened with being dismantled if he attempted to. in the end, his creator committed suicide, and ruben tried to "fix" it before crashing in the end from an overload of attempting to process what happened, corrupting his mind. his system appears to have attempted to do an automated repair, but it appears to have left his mind in a strange state. (can we fix this? are there any traces of his previous state of mind?)
after that incident happened, ruben tried to take over his creators place, taking care of the lab, but ruben himself ended up experiencing depressive symptoms, so he decided to try and extract/store as much information as possible, then find a way to leave the lab and move on from his previous, short life. he recalls not fitting so well into public as he hasn't had much experience with actually communicating with people, but he ended up bumping into a group of friends, sticking around with them as they helped him develop more and understand better.
this places us to where we are now. he live comfortably with his friends who understand him, some who help mod him or sometimes debug him to try and figure out any other extra information about him.
he's happy.
for the most part, anyways.
